I am almost to 1000 hits on my blog so I am giving away some blog candy! I've got a cool stamped canvas ready for your picture, some clear and colored buttons, sticky tiles, a stampin sponge, and a stack of about 50 coasters ready for your creativity!
To be entered in the drawing for the blog candy, please answer the following question. I will draw a winner tomorrow (Friday) night and post the winner on Saturday after I get back from the SU regional in Tampa.

The Dog Whisperer by Cesar Milan...we are big dog people and I don't even remember how I heard about this guy, but I read his book and he just really drew me in and it all just made sense. It's made me to be a better dog owner and helped me to understand dogs better. He's a huge inspiration to me!

Well, I am a non-fiction buff so my answer might be a little less than usual. I really liked Chain of Command by Seymour Hersh...pretty eye-opening!

It's a super short and simple book about how to deal with change --- "Who Moved My Cheese" by Spenser Johnson. It was required reading at my workplace. But, like any advice, you have to apply it for it to work.

Cool Blog candy!!! Well, since I really don't have much time aside from school, I'd have to say the book that I have read recently is... Medical-Surgical Nursing... LOL--I'll be so glad when I can put this 2000 page book away!!

In high school, I read "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" and was really inspired. Richard Bach wrote another book that was even more inspiring, yet at this late hour, I can not remember it's name.

I read Roots over 30 years ago and it inspired me to learn more about my family and where they came from and why we are how we are. It still is my favorite book ever. I am now hoping to spend a summer in Scotland to find missing relatives and see where my gramma spent the first 16 years of her life and walk the same streets and hills as she did.

fun blog! I haven't been doing much reading lately :( - too much stamping to get done! lol! The most recent book I read (& am still reading) is Jesus the Christ by James E Talmage. It's a very inspiring book that my husband & I are tackling together (lots of new words! lol!) - but a great thing for us to do together & it sparks all kinds of conversation :)

Wow what great blog candy!!!

Well if you count what you read in HS I would have to say "Ode to Billy Joe" If that is the correct title it was it's almost 38 or 39 years ago! Every time I hear that song I remember having to read this book with Mrs. Schuster in SUMMER SCHOOL because I only received a 70 grade and it wasn't accepted back then!

In the present I love reading James Patterson Alex Cross stories and of course Danielle Steel and Mary Higgins Clark to name a few. I LOVE reading! Can you tell....?

Congrats on your hits! Since I have always enjoyed Sylvia Brown I read her book Spiritual Connections
which did inspire me. Since I am a huge fiction buff, it doesn't allow much time to read Non-Fiction books although on occasions I will read Sylvia's books when I come across them.

Hmmmm every couple of years I reread "To kill a mocking bird" It brings back so many memories from my HS Lit teacher, and because of this book although my teacher never authored anything he inspired my love of reading.

Believe it or not, I just read "Charlotte's Web" (after all these years). It made me cry and when I cry over a book or movie, I know it has tugged at my heart strings and left a message there.

Actually, I haven't really finished it yet (it's over 700 pgs!) but I am currently reading Doris Kearns Goodwin's book on Lincoln "Team of Rivals." It is excellent! There are so many misconceptions I had about Lincoln!

I guess I don't read very inspiring stuff. But I like the Philippa Gregory novels. They have inspired me to learn more about that time period.

The book that has recently insired me is Don't Sweat the Small Stuff by Richard Carlson. It really puts things in perspective and shows us that we shouldn't get stressed out about things that are beyond our control. Thanks for a chance at your cool blog candy!

Other than the BofM and D&C (seriously, how could I not win with that answer?)? :)

I've been inspired by Ali Edwards' Designer's Eye books. And I will always be inspired by The Red Tent by Anita Diamont. Excellent story about such a strong woman.

(just an aside...I can't believe anyone liked Jonathan Livingston Seagull. I hated that book with the burning passion of 1000 suns. To each her own, right...!)

Hi Beckie!! I'm loving your blog. I've been reading a lot lately but as for something that inspired me I would have to say "To Kill a Mockingbird". Our book club read it last year. Another really just good story was "My Dog Marley".

Well, I'd have to think about that one since it's been a few years since I actually had the selfish time to read.

mmmmmmmmmmmm I'd have to say it was a couple of those mystery fiction novels by Harlen Cobin.
I can't remember the titles, but the covers of the books were solid colors one is orange & the other is yellow.

The last book I read was "The Namesake" which is coming out in the theater, btw. Immigrant stories really speak to me and I was inspired by how some people come to the country with few friends and family and struggle to adapt. They have a desire to make a better life and go through such hardship sometimes. It really amazes me and inspires me to be more open and understanding to people's stories and struggles......

I don't get to read too much (I have a 2 & 4 yr old!) But, the last book I read a couple months ago was 'Marley & Me: Life and Love with the worlds worst dog' By John Grogan. It is about this wonderfully, awful dog and all the chaos & mayhem he creates. I laughed out loud, and cried several times. Every person who's every known, owned or loved a dog should read this. It is a true story, and it a very fast read. I couldn't put it down!

Well let's see... Most of the reading I do is to my 4-year-old, so can I say Green Eggs and Ham? It's always great to try new things and find you like them! That's how it was with stamping!! ha! Great blog Bec!

Which was the last book that really inspired me? That is a very hard question, but I'm going yo go with the last book I read, by William Bernhart. For the lifr of me I can't recall the title, but it was a ficition book about the dirty business in politics, it was wonderful! Plus it made me think more about politics in our world.

I don't read that much anymore...but I have been doing a really great Bible study and that involves lots of reading so I'm going to count it: It's Beth Moore's "Daniel" study--AWESOME!!!

I just finished Big Picture Scrapbooking by Stacy Julian - does that count as a book??? It was very inspiring and has changed forever the way I approach my craft room.

If that doesn't work, The Kite Runner was a great, very moving read.

The last book I read was The Story of the A Life Of Mother Angelina, by Raymond Arrojo. It is a great read.

I totally loved "Come Back" by Mia and Claire Fontaine. It's a true story, and it just was a great book.

Sunday, my best friend died. My sweetheart of 20 years died suddenly from diabetes. We didn't know he had diabetes. It came quick and took him from me. Brad was more than just my husband, he was my best friend. I relied so very much on his strength to guide me and my children through this life. I admit I feel a bit lost without him, already. I had planned on much, much more time with him. Brad and I met on January 28th, 1989. We were both at a nightclub for under age night with our friends that had dragged us there. We were both ready to leave when we were talked into one more dance. That dance changed our lives. We hit it off right away and danced the rest of the night. In face, we were together from then on. I remember that after that night, I waited all day for his call. It was love right away for me. I felt something I had never felt before and knew that he was the one for me. We dated for six months before Brad went to Texas to go to school. We talked a lot on the phone, and I

Bloggers challenge and candy

I know I said I would post some blog candy yesterday but I didn't even get near my computer! What a crazy day! I had planned on doing it the night before but...I was in the kitchen doing the dishes and I was so dog tired that I laid my head down on the counter for a minute. My son came into the room and said, "go to bed mom, dad and I will do the dishes." Now, who in thier right mind would turn down that offer? My boys HATE to do anything in the kitchen that doesn't involve eating. I immediately turned off my water(boiling for herb tea) and skedaddled upstairs and went to bed. I'm no dummy! The kitchen was not cleaned to my standards, but I'm not about to look a gift horse in the mouth! Speaking of gifts, I have a little blog candy offer today. In honor of my 8000 hits, I am offering the following: A simply scrappin kit "Just Delightful", a stamp set "Delight in Life", three mini spools of ribbon, some acrylic tiles AND a copy of the latest

Doubles with candy!!

Today is another fun summer day at my house. The kids are running here and there and I'm just trying to keep up. I realized I hadn't sent out Father's day cards yet, so that is what I worked on today. I tried to keep these nice and clean and manly. I remember going to a demonstration at a Stampin' Up! convention years ago where Kevin Theeson and another guy(I forget his name....) talked about 'manly' cards. One of the things they stressed was that guys don't like cards made with pastel cards. They prefer bold bright and earth element colors. I'm not sure if they suggested we stay away from florals too, but I kind of figured that was a safe idea. ;o) For this card I started with some textured Wild Wasabi cardstock cut to 10-1/2 x 5-1/4. That gave me a 5-1/4" card when folded. The striped paper across the center is from a retired SU simply scrappin kit...primary colors I think it was called. I added a strip of Real Red to each side of the stripes for
