Hoppy Birthday


I am just squealin with delight! I figured out how to move my watermark all by myself! I know, some of you are thinking...this lady is a moron. Well, that is most likely true when it comes to computers. I just don't "get" most of the computer stuff very easily. So, this little achievement is so exciting! We'll see if I can remember tomorrow....
I finally received my paisley background stamp! I have seen sooo many awesome samples with it I broke down and bought it. I had to get that new stamp inked! I also wanted to use the awesome ribbon I got from Michelle so I decided to try and use them together. I pulled the green color out of the ribbon and matched it with SU Green Galore. That color just called for the unfrogettable set. I stamped the paisley with Green galore on the front of my white card and then sliced off about 1-1/2 inches across the bottom. I stuck the ribbon along the edge and stamped "hoppy birthday' on the lower edge where the inside peeked out. For the froggy, I stamped him with Staz-on on watercolor paper and watercolored him with stamp pads and the aqua painters. I then punched him out with a marvy circle punch. I love the size of this punch, but it doesn't like the thick paper very much. I had to trim the edges of the circle after I punched it to clean them up. I used my old wavy decorative shears (Do you still have some of those?) for the green galore border. I added a bit of ribbon to the focal point with a good ol stapler. I like the look of the staple. I think it is an easy way to add a bit of metal to anchor it all. To finish it all off, I added crystal effects to the eyes and all the circle parts of "hoppy birthday." This is one of those cards that I didn't really like until I was done. I wasn't sure how the watercolor paper was going to look on the white...but I just went ahead and finished it and I am pleased with it. Maybe my sister will get this card...Her birthday is Friday so I have lots of time. My family knows me well enough to not expect their birthday gifts/cards till After their birthday. ;o)

Bloggers challenge and candy

I know I said I would post some blog candy yesterday but I didn't even get near my computer! What a crazy day! I had planned on doing it the night before but...I was in the kitchen doing the dishes and I was so dog tired that I laid my head down on the counter for a minute. My son came into the room and said, "go to bed mom, dad and I will do the dishes." Now, who in thier right mind would turn down that offer? My boys HATE to do anything in the kitchen that doesn't involve eating. I immediately turned off my water(boiling for herb tea) and skedaddled upstairs and went to bed. I'm no dummy! Doubles with candy!!

Today is another fun summer day at my house. The kids are running here and there and I'm just trying to keep up. I realized I hadn't sent out Father's day cards yet, so that is what I worked on today. I tried to keep these nice and clean and manly. I remember going to a demonstration at a Stampin' Up! convention years ago where Kevin Theeson and another guy(I forget his name....) talked about 'manly' cards. One of the things they stressed was that guys don't like cards made with pastel cards. They prefer bold bright and earth element colors. I'm not sure if they suggested we stay away from florals too, but I kind of figured that was a safe idea. ;o) For this card I started with some textured Wild Wasabi cardstock cut to 10-1/2 x 5-1/4. That gave me a 5-1/4" card when folded. The striped paper across the center is from a retired SU simply scrappin kit...primary colors I think it was called.
