Bloggers challenge!

It is Friday again! I have been busy in my stamp room all day. I mean ALL day! I was up at 2am this morning. I did go back to bed for a few hours, but...golly. This time it was the mother of all headaches. Enough whining! This week our challenge was to use the baby card on page 141 as our template. I knew right off that I wanted to use the "coming soon" Tart and Tangy set from SU. This set will be in the Occasions Mini catalog that comes out in a few months. SO cute!! There is even designer paper to 'coordinate' with it! Love the cherries! There is also an orange (or basic 'citrus' type fruit), an apple, and a strawberry. Best of all they come die cut! Gotta love that!!

For my card base, I cut my Bayou Blue to 6 x 6 and then folded it over to make a card that is 3 x 6. I cut a strip of DSP 1 inch by 12 inches, cut it in half at 6 inches and then cut one 6 x 1 in half the long way so it was 1/2 inch by 6. I then flipped the paper and mounted the narrower strips to the back of the wider one. Basically, the red is the other side of the cherries. A little sneak peek of both sides there. Have I said how much I love double sided paper? I do! The green squre is Artichoke with a strip of Whisper white. I stamped the "you make me" in artichoke with the Rough Edges alphabet. The 'happy' is also stamped with artichoke. The actual stamp is longer than this piece but the part that is cut off is just the beginning and end of the lines on the h and y. Made it fit! I added some white gel pen dots along the edges of the white strip to tie it in a bit more. The cherries are inked with my M3 Real red and Artichoke and stamped onto whisper white. I punched them out with the 1-3/8 circle punch and layered them onto a Sky Blue scallop. I punched a couple of holes with my 18" hole punch and tied a bit of red gingham around the stems of the cherries. They are stuck on with dimensionals.

It was a fairly easy and quick project and...I got to use new stamps! They do make me happy! I took this picture out on my back porch. Can you see the green out there? Neener neener to you guys in the snow! Come visit me if you want to warm up! It is beautiful here! (You can neener me in the summer when I am melting into a pool of goo....;o)) )

I'm going back into my office to do some more stamping! Hope you get to do some too!

Playing catchup again as I looked at everyone's cards last week but didn't have time to comment. Good job on this challenge. Those cherries are "yummy" looking. Love the colors you chose.

Bradley

Sunday, my best friend died. My sweetheart of 20 years died suddenly from diabetes. We didn't know he had diabetes. It came quick and took him from me. Brad was more than just my husband, he was my best friend. I relied so very much on his strength to guide me and my children through this life. I admit I feel a bit lost without him, already. I had planned on much, much more time with him. Brad and I met on January 28th, 1989. We were both at a nightclub for under age night with our friends that had dragged us there. We were both ready to leave when we were talked into one more dance. That dance changed our lives. We hit it off right away and danced the rest of the night. In face, we were together from then on. I remember that after that night, I waited all day for his call. It was love right away for me. I felt something I had never felt before and knew that he was the one for me. We dated for six months before Brad went to Texas to go to school. We talked a lot on the phone, and I

Bloggers challenge and candy

I know I said I would post some blog candy yesterday but I didn't even get near my computer! What a crazy day! I had planned on doing it the night before but...I was in the kitchen doing the dishes and I was so dog tired that I laid my head down on the counter for a minute. My son came into the room and said, "go to bed mom, dad and I will do the dishes." Now, who in thier right mind would turn down that offer? My boys HATE to do anything in the kitchen that doesn't involve eating. I immediately turned off my water(boiling for herb tea) and skedaddled upstairs and went to bed. I'm no dummy! The kitchen was not cleaned to my standards, but I'm not about to look a gift horse in the mouth! Speaking of gifts, I have a little blog candy offer today. In honor of my 8000 hits, I am offering the following: A simply scrappin kit "Just Delightful", a stamp set "Delight in Life", three mini spools of ribbon, some acrylic tiles AND a copy of the latest

Doubles with candy!!

Today is another fun summer day at my house. The kids are running here and there and I'm just trying to keep up. I realized I hadn't sent out Father's day cards yet, so that is what I worked on today. I tried to keep these nice and clean and manly. I remember going to a demonstration at a Stampin' Up! convention years ago where Kevin Theeson and another guy(I forget his name....) talked about 'manly' cards. One of the things they stressed was that guys don't like cards made with pastel cards. They prefer bold bright and earth element colors. I'm not sure if they suggested we stay away from florals too, but I kind of figured that was a safe idea. ;o) For this card I started with some textured Wild Wasabi cardstock cut to 10-1/2 x 5-1/4. That gave me a 5-1/4" card when folded. The striped paper across the center is from a retired SU simply scrappin kit...primary colors I think it was called. I added a strip of Real Red to each side of the stripes for
