Swaps Wanted!

I was only up til 1am today stamping. Why is it that although there may be time during the day to stamp, I get my best work done in the middle of the night? I think it must be because that it the only time the house is quiet and I am 'alone' as it were. We had one kid farmed out and two extras here so it took quite a while for it to be 'quiet.'
I signed up for several swaps at leadership next week. I like the organized swaps better because I like to spend time visiting with my stampin pals and not worrying about swapping in the general mass hysteria of swapping, if possible. This card is one I am doing for a shoebox swap. It needs to be doable in a short amount of time since we are doing a truckload of swaps. I was inspired by a way cuter card on another blog...can't remember where I saw it, but anyway! I changed it quite a bit and dolled it down to make it demonstrat-able. I used Chocolate chip and brocade blue cardstock for the base and stars. The new big star punch is awesome! I stamped the paisley, horse, and 'wanted' all with the chocolate chip, distressed the edges with my cutter kit, and then went crazy with my sponge and chocolate ink. The horse is stamped onto vanilla cardstock. I wadded up the cardstock and then sponged over it to pick up the creases I had made to give it that old west feel. I put a jumbo eyelet through both stars and then did a cool ribbon trick to tie it all together. I cut my ribbon about 10 inches long. I made a big loop and tied a knot to close it. I slit the loop so the tail on the right side would be shorter. I took the two new tails I had made and fed them through the front of the eyelet. I pulled them through and wrapped them around the front of the card. I used my snail to stick the ribbon to the front of the card and tucked the ends around to the back and stuck them down too. I think doing it this way uses a tiny bit less ribbon than wrapping the ribbon all the way around the card and coming out through the eyelet and tying the knot. I only need about 40 of these so....saving ribbon could be a good thing!
I got a special order for some clipboards so I will share them later on today or tomorrow.

Bloggers challenge and candy

I know I said I would post some blog candy yesterday but I didn't even get near my computer! What a crazy day! I had planned on doing it the night before but...I was in the kitchen doing the dishes and I was so dog tired that I laid my head down on the counter for a minute. My son came into the room and said, "go to bed mom, dad and I will do the dishes." Now, who in thier right mind would turn down that offer? My boys HATE to do anything in the kitchen that doesn't involve eating. I immediately turned off my water(boiling for herb tea) and skedaddled upstairs and went to bed. I'm no dummy! Doubles with candy!!

Today is another fun summer day at my house. The kids are running here and there and I'm just trying to keep up. I realized I hadn't sent out Father's day cards yet, so that is what I worked on today. I tried to keep these nice and clean and manly. I remember going to a demonstration at a Stampin' Up! convention years ago where Kevin Theeson and another guy(I forget his name....) talked about 'manly' cards. One of the things they stressed was that guys don't like cards made with pastel cards. They prefer bold bright and earth element colors. I'm not sure if they suggested we stay away from florals too, but I kind of figured that was a safe idea. ;o) For this card I started with some textured Wild Wasabi cardstock cut to 10-1/2 x 5-1/4. That gave me a 5-1/4" card when folded. The striped paper across the center is from a retired SU simply scrappin kit...primary colors I think it was called.
