Birthday blog candy!

In honor of my birthday, I am offering another package of blog candy! All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite thing about getting older. :o) The candy includes a package of cardstock, metal edge tags, sanding block, cool metal border stickers, silver gel pen, and a set of mini gift cards stamped by yours truly.
For some reason, my 'rechargeable batteries' decided not to 'recharge' anymore. I am quite distraught about that. I planned to share these pictures a couple of days ago, but....I had to wait til I bought some new batteries. I have to say tho, I was really afraid I had broken my camera! I'm glad it is just the batteries!
I borrowed my friend's Precious stamp set the other day and have been having fun with it! I made this card using a square card base of chocolate chip (5-12" square). I stamped the swirlies in blue bayou onto a large piece of whisper white and onto a smaller piece. I cut out a butterfly and stuck it on with dimensionals. You know how butterflies just cry out for glitter, so I coated this one with clear stickles. I liked the look so I carried the stickels onto the dotted lines in the swirls. I layered the white pieces and put them on the card base. The edges are blue bayou stitched ribbon. I finished the card off with some square Ice rhinestones on the let. I love these colors together! Since I had the set and colors out, I went ahead and made this little pouch card while I was at it. I used a scallop note from Stampin' Up! that I had stamped the swirl from Precious on with Versamark ink. I scored the scallop at 2" from one side and 1-1/2" from the two sides. Cut out the little triangles you make when you score and then fold the sides in and the bottom up. Easy peasy! I wrapped some vellum cardstock around it 'belly-band' style and added some blue bayou ribbon. I stamped the butterfly on white cardstock and cut him out. He is stuck on with a dimensional and touched up with some glitter. The little tag inside has more swirls and a saying from Full of Life, a new set in the Stampin' Up! mini catalog. I really like this set...I may to buy my own!

Oh no, I'm the first!! One of things I love about getting older is having a bigger perspective on life...and no more diapers or screaming toddlers.
Have a great birthday!! Love you!

My favorite thing about getting older is the attitude adjustment ... you kinda roll with the punches and stop worrying about the little things ... or things that you can't change.

Happy b-day!

Well, I'm only 26, so for my last birthday my favorite thing about growing older was lower car insurance!!!

Well, I turn 40 next month which in the past has always seemed pretty darn old to me. Now that I'm almost there, it doesn't seem quite so old. There are lots of neat things about getting older, but probably the best is that you realize that life goes on and not everything is the "drama" it seemed to be when you were younger.

Some read-aloud books we have enjoyed: The Ranger's Apprentice series, Temeraire series, Setimus Heap Series, James Herriot books, Spiderwick books. All of us enjoyed them.

My favorite thing about getting older is that I have really mellowed out a lot. I mostly leave my work troubles at work and don't bring them home with me at night.

Have a wonderful birthday.

Happy Birthday!!!
My favorite thing about getting older is having better perspective. As I look around at my VERY dusty and not very tidy house, I'm thankful that I finally realized that having a perfectly clean house is not what life is all about... plus, no one ever comes over and sees it when it is clean anyway! :)

Hey, gal! Not doing this for the goods! I had actually stopped by to wish you a happy birthday. I had you on my handy-dandy birthday reminder! We met at Yazmin's Tuesday night and made this cute little note holder! Gotta make some more of those! Take care,Beth

The best thing about getting older.........now that my daughter is grown, I can play with the kids, give them candy, and then send them home. It's called payback and is so much fun.

Well, where do I start....first thing I noticed getting older is that I didn't care so much about being popular and fitting in, secondly, I learned a new word in my vocabulary no...no ......no and boy it feels good to say it!
Thirdly, I pay more attention to the important stuff instead of sweating the small stuff.
Forthly, now don't laugh.....When I get even older, I take University courses for free!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best things about getting older are seeing my dreams come true. Seeing my sons grow into responsible men, seeing my daughters improve on their musical instruments, and seeing ways that my own experiences have deepened my understanding and wisdom. But the best of all is being called "ma'am!"

What I like about getting old if you consider 45 old is that I know who I am... Content with life, etc.

As I get older I learn to see the big picture more and I am learning to be more content with my life.

Well, dear, the best thing about getting older is having the parent/child relationship shift slightly to include friend/friend relationship. Having my daughter grow up to be such an accomplished, competent, lovely woman, that I can respect and enjoy as a friend is the very best part of growing older. I love you. Happy Birthday, dear daughter.
Love,
Mom

One nice thing about getting older is when you need to run quick to the store to pick up something you forgot, you can do exactly that - just grab your keys and head out. You don't even worry about checking the mirror any more!!!

Happy Birthday!! Woot! :)
My fave thing about getting older is that you're wiser too - you've experienced another year of life.

Hope you have a fab b-day!

I love having a "longer" perspective on life... a little more time to look back and reflect on. I think I am past getting wiser, and into the forgetting... that is another thing I love about getting older is that you forget so many of the things that used to seem so significantly life altering (you thought you'd never recover) and get to enjoy the hazy memmories :o)

What I like about getting older... Learning and growing. In my personal relationships and with the Lord. Each day is a gift and we need to remember that.

My favorite thing about getting older is, all of the experiences and opportunities I've had. I have gotten to do so many things! I wouldn't trade any of them! (for instance teaching in the Arctic after being Desert raised!)
