Rhinos in the flowers

I found a few minutes this evening to make a couple cards with my newest stamp sets. I figured I better use them now because I just ordered more! You know, new stamps stamp the best! ;o) I decided to only use what I had on my desk so here you go! The card base is Almost Amethyst. The patterned paper is from the new catalog in the same color. To make the scalloped edges, because my corner rounder and slit punch were NOT on my desk, I used the 1-1/4 circle punch. I just punched out a bunch of cirlce, sliced them in half and stuck them along the edges of the patterned paper. I punched the holes with my cool new toy...I think it is called the screw punch? anyway, it is pretty cool and I got it for a song so, there you go. I did the faux stitching along the edges with the SU crafters kit. Have I mentioned that I love that kit and that I think I need two of them? Don't leave home without it! The rhino is stamped with black and colored in using the aquapainter and some ink from the lid of my AA pad. I sponged the edges of the rhino piece to give it a bit of a finished look. Again, I didn't have my corner rounder handy, so to get the rounded corners on the focal point I put a 1-1/4" punched circle in a corner and cut around it. Kind of cool and I think I even made that up! I'm not sure if you can tell from the picture, but I used my cool white gel pen on his teeth and horn. Can I tell you just how cool that looks in person? Pearly whites! heehee...(I did his toes too...;o))

This next card was fun to make. I admit I got a bit punchy with it...LOL I stamped the petals from the new pick a petal set in Purely Pomegranate onto white cardstock. I then used my screw punch to punch out all the polka dots. Then I cut out the flower and layered it onto some black cardstock. (yes, I have ladybugs on the brain...wonder why...) The center was stamped with black onto white, cut out, stuck on, and smeared with clear stickles. (Love them!!) I stamped the H I with the white craft pad....then I outlined them with the awesome white gel pen.....then I decided to fill them in with a cool new toy I have called puffy paint pens. they go on like a paint pen but when you heat them they turn to a cool suede-like feel/look. very cool. I used the gel pen to dot around the edges of the black and decided it was done!
I ordered some new stuff today for my convention swaps. I can't wait! I mean, I really can't! I even paid for quick delivery! My group said they would help me make swaps Saturday night at our meeting so...I'm coming prepared! ;o))
