A little catch up

I am finally feeling better! yay! Of course, once I go see what state my laundry and kitchen are in I just might go back to bed anyway! Oh well, the rest was delightful and much needed.

I did a bit of catching up on some stampin projects today. I had promised some gifts to my downline so I made some mini notebooks. These are easy to make and totally cute! The notebooks are 3 x 5 inches. I used Stampin' Up!'s purely pomegranate cardstock to wrap around the notebook. I cut it to 5-1/4 x 6-1/4 and scored it on the long side at 3 inches in from each end. That gave me a little box side for the notebook to snuggle into. I glued the notebook in with SU!'s new Liquid Tombow glue. This stuff is awesome! We used it at the calendar class on Friday night and, I just fell in love with it! It is liquid so you can move it around, but it adheres and dries super quick without getting stiff! I cut a piece of Cutie Pie Designer paper to 2-3/4 x 5 inches and stuck that on the front. I wrapped a piece of pomegranate around the notepad to make a belly band. When you do this, make sure you don't make it too snug. You want to be able to put it back on after you take it off. I wrapped a strip of pomegranate stitched ribbon around the belly band leaving a loop on the right side for a pen to slip in to. I layered a white scallop under two 5 petal flower punches and held them together with a rhinestone brad. I stuck the flower combo on with some dimensionals. I think they look really cute in person and I hope my downline members like them!

My other project today was for my good friend Katie. She asked me to make some pins for her kids. They are preschool age and just starting to dress themselves. I thought it was a cute idea! I knew my All in the Family set would be perfect for this. I stamped the little boy and girl in basic black and colored them in with my markers. The words are stamped with the rough edge alphabet. I used a Marvy 3" circle punch to punch them out. It was a quick easy project. I hope her kids like them.

My next project is dinner. Yay. My DH is working the shuttle launch so, I'm on my own tonight. Too bad I already used up the pizza money for the month!

Birthday blog candy!

In honor of my birthday, I am offering another package of blog candy! All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite thing about getting older. :o) The candy includes a package of cardstock, metal edge tags, sanding block, cool metal border stickers, silver gel pen, and a set of mini gift cards stamped by yours truly. For some reason, my 'rechargeable batteries' decided not to 'recharge' anymore. I am quite distraught about that. I planned to share these pictures a couple of days ago, but....I had to wait til I bought some new batteries. I have to say tho, I was really afraid I had broken my camera! I'm glad it is just the batteries! I borrowed my friend's Precious stamp set the other day and have been having fun with it! I made this card using a square card base of chocolate chip (5-12" square). I stamped the swirlies in blue bayou onto a large piece of whisper white and onto a smaller piece. I cut out a butterfly and stuck i...

Bradley

Sunday, my best friend died. My sweetheart of 20 years died suddenly from diabetes. We didn't know he had diabetes. It came quick and took him from me. Brad was more than just my husband, he was my best friend. I relied so very much on his strength to guide me and my children through this life. I admit I feel a bit lost without him, already. I had planned on much, much more time with him. Brad and I met on January 28th, 1989. We were both at a nightclub for under age night with our friends that had dragged us there. We were both ready to leave when we were talked into one more dance. That dance changed our lives. We hit it off right away and danced the rest of the night. In face, we were together from then on. I remember that after that night, I waited all day for his call. It was love right away for me. I felt something I had never felt before and knew that he was the one for me. We dated for six months before Brad went to Texas to go to school. We talked a lot on the phone, and I...

Soccer, projects and....Blog Candy!!

Okay, I know I promised to post some blog candy a couple days ago but, what was I thinking? The weekend has become the crazy part of my week! We have entered the World of Soccer. All you soccer moms out there will totally know what I am talking about. We are still in the little leagues of it, only one practice a week and one game. Per child of course....I'm glad my son decided he didn't want to play. Two kids is enough! It was a beautiful weekend tho. The weather was awesome. The sun got bright during the afternoon game, but every few minutes it would rain so, it kept us nice an comfy. Only in Florida can you have rain on a sunny day. It is one of the wonders of the world. I put together a few goodies for Blog Candy today. I have been having way too much fun making stuff with coasters and patterned paper lately. Stampin' Up! has made it even easier to use these two items together by offering the Tombow Liquid Adhesive. If you haven't used it, you've got to! It is aw...
