At least I think it is week 41....they are flying by! This week our challenge was to use the long note sample on page 65 of the Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalog as our inspiration. Kind of a cute little card. The first card I came up with used Kraft as the card base. I started with a square piece of cardstock measuring 6 x 6 and folded it over to make my card. This should fit in our long notes envelopes. I used the coluzzle to cut a circle from the Afternoon Tea designer paper and then again to cut a ring from chocolate chip cardstock. To get it to fit like it does, I stuck the ring onto the circle and then adhered them both to my card front with dotto. Love the repositionable adhesive! Then I simply cut off the overhang with my Craft and Paper scissors (aka the Holy scissors). I tied a strip of wide chocolate grosgrain around the front and then layered a piece of vanilla cardstock to the inside to cover up the ribbon. I stamped the branch and Thank You from Spring Solitude in basic brown. I stamped the bird in Groovy Guava and the leaves in Artichoke both onto Vanilla cardstock and cut them out. I gave the bird a bit of dimension with crystal effects. I added some blingage to the left with clear rhinestones from the Pretties kit. I wasn't sure if I really liked this one so I made another card. I mean, it was only 11pm....plenty of time, right?
I used a Kraft base again for this card. The designer paper I had used for the first card is two sided. I had this nice piece of paper with a circle cut out of it, so I flipped it over and used the other side for this card. I stuck the paper to the card base and trimmed off the excess again. I used my coluzzle to cut out a ring from white cardstock a bit bigger than the circle hole in my designer paper. I used some scallop shears to make my ring a scallop ring and then stuck it over the seam of the designer paper and card base. I stamped the hippo from Pun Fun with basic black right onto the kraft paper and again onto white cardstock. I colored the white hippo in using a blender pen and ink from my Bayou Blue ink pad and a cameo coral marker. I cut out the white hippo and stuck it over the hippo stamped on kraft. I didn't cut out the balloon or string, those could be in the background. I used a 1/2 pearl from the Pretties kit as the balloon. I colored directly onto the pearl withe the cameo marker to pull it together a bit. The scallops along the bottom are done with my scallop shears and the ribbon across the top is Blue Bayou. I think I like this one a bit better.
The reason I was up so late working on these is because I had a group meeting last night. We made this awesome little punch charts. It took a LONG time! I think they will be very helpful tho! You can lay the punch holes right over images to see how they will fit. I did these for my downline and don't want to make any more but if you would like the file for the labels, I would be happy to send it to you via email.
I'm still gathering goodies for Blog candy and plan to post it tomorrow. Stay tuned!
