National scrap day!

Yesterday was National scrapbooking day. I didn't realize it was until I read an email from one of my scrapping groups. That wasn't until after piano lessons, a soccer game, Benny's birthday party (he's 7!) a couple runs to the store, a couple deliveries of children to friends houses and a nap. So, basically, I didn't spend my day scrapping. I would have liked to go to a crop or something but...it just didn't happen. I did manage to put together this layout before the end of the day. I'm not sure if I love it, it isn't really my style these days, but I wanted to use the die cut flowers from Stampin' Up! and I thought the pictures from leadership last January would be perfect! My pages started out as natural white cardstock. I laid mounted my pictures in Pumpkin pie and bashful blue. The top left picture is matted with both colors. By each large picture of a single person there is a smaller picture with them and someone else in it. That is the strategy of my layout on here. ;o) I placed the flowers to fill in the white spaces and stamped the swirl from Priceless in celery ink around the flowers. I am going to miss that stamp set....I had to give it back to it's owner today. Some of the flowers are popped up with dimensionals and there is white gel pen accents here and there on them as well. This picture didn't turn out so great.
While I had the flowers out, I made a couple cards for a friend of mine for her daughter's teachers. The card base is a piece of Wild Wasabi from the SU special packet. I stamped the Print patterns background stamp with Versamark in the background and put the flowers over that. Again, pretty straight forward. The words are from Full of Life.
This last card is one I made for my friend that loaned me her stamps. The base is celery with a piece of SU Designer paper layered over it. I punched the left side with the spiral punch. The words are stamped onto vanilla with black and then the edges are sponged with close to cocoa. I tied a bit of chocolate tafetta ribbon (yummy!) on the bottom and stuck it on with dimensionals. The hearts are from a punch, sponged with cocoa and adhered with one square rhinestone brad. It was a quick card but I really liked it.
Have a great day!!

I especially like the brown card. I'm not really a "brown" person, but coupled with the green, it's stunning! It wears me out just reading about all you do!!

Bradley

Sunday, my best friend died. My sweetheart of 20 years died suddenly from diabetes. We didn't know he had diabetes. It came quick and took him from me. Brad was more than just my husband, he was my best friend. I relied so very much on his strength to guide me and my children through this life. I admit I feel a bit lost without him, already. I had planned on much, much more time with him. Brad and I met on January 28th, 1989. We were both at a nightclub for under age night with our friends that had dragged us there. We were both ready to leave when we were talked into one more dance. That dance changed our lives. We hit it off right away and danced the rest of the night. In face, we were together from then on. I remember that after that night, I waited all day for his call. It was love right away for me. I felt something I had never felt before and knew that he was the one for me. We dated for six months before Brad went to Texas to go to school. We talked a lot on the phone, and I...

Doubles with candy!!

Today is another fun summer day at my house. The kids are running here and there and I'm just trying to keep up. I realized I hadn't sent out Father's day cards yet, so that is what I worked on today. I tried to keep these nice and clean and manly. I remember going to a demonstration at a Stampin' Up! convention years ago where Kevin Theeson and another guy(I forget his name....) talked about 'manly' cards. One of the things they stressed was that guys don't like cards made with pastel cards. They prefer bold bright and earth element colors. I'm not sure if they suggested we stay away from florals too, but I kind of figured that was a safe idea. ;o) For this card I started with some textured Wild Wasabi cardstock cut to 10-1/2 x 5-1/4. That gave me a 5-1/4" card when folded. The striped paper across the center is from a retired SU simply scrappin kit...primary colors I think it was called. I added a strip of Real Red to each side of the stripes for...
