Pink, brown, and Beate!

I'm on time! Amazing, isn't it? Today's blogger's challenge was to use pink and brown. I love those colors together! This card is actually Cameo Coral and Chocolate chip, but....close enough! I had made the card base a while ago and it had been sitting on my desk waiting for the inspiration to finish it. I made it with cameo coral for the base, a square of chocolate chip on top of that, and pieces of designer paper from the Apple Cider and Darling doodles packets. I stamped the big flower, words, little flowers, and the dotted borders with chocolate chip. To get the light and dark on the flowers, I colored parts with my M3 in coral and then chalked with the same color. The effect in person is great! I love how all the SU colors coordinate! The dots are from the Along the Same Lines stamp set. I layered a smaller flower on top of the big flower to give it some dimension and popped the smaller one up with some pop dots. I added some stickles to the flower centers, the outside edge of the big flower and all the swirly dots in the background. When I was done with all that....I stepped back and felt like it still needed a little something so I pulled out the sewing machine and added the stitched lines across the top. The funny thing is...the thread pulled out so I ended up using my white gel pen to make the actual stitch lines, faux! oh well.
This card was also inspired by Beate's Friday challenge. Take a look at all the great variations on her blog.
I'm busy getting swaps ready for leadership so....I'll share more later! Have a great day!

Bradley

Sunday, my best friend died. My sweetheart of 20 years died suddenly from diabetes. We didn't know he had diabetes. It came quick and took him from me. Brad was more than just my husband, he was my best friend. I relied so very much on his strength to guide me and my children through this life. I admit I feel a bit lost without him, already. I had planned on much, much more time with him. Brad and I met on January 28th, 1989. We were both at a nightclub for under age night with our friends that had dragged us there. We were both ready to leave when we were talked into one more dance. That dance changed our lives. We hit it off right away and danced the rest of the night. In face, we were together from then on. I remember that after that night, I waited all day for his call. It was love right away for me. I felt something I had never felt before and knew that he was the one for me. We dated for six months before Brad went to Texas to go to school. We talked a lot on the phone, and I...

Birthday blog candy!

In honor of my birthday, I am offering another package of blog candy! All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite thing about getting older. :o) The candy includes a package of cardstock, metal edge tags, sanding block, cool metal border stickers, silver gel pen, and a set of mini gift cards stamped by yours truly. For some reason, my 'rechargeable batteries' decided not to 'recharge' anymore. I am quite distraught about that. I planned to share these pictures a couple of days ago, but....I had to wait til I bought some new batteries. I have to say tho, I was really afraid I had broken my camera! I'm glad it is just the batteries! I borrowed my friend's Precious stamp set the other day and have been having fun with it! I made this card using a square card base of chocolate chip (5-12" square). I stamped the swirlies in blue bayou onto a large piece of whisper white and onto a smaller piece. I cut out a butterfly and stuck i...

Soccer, projects and....Blog Candy!!

Okay, I know I promised to post some blog candy a couple days ago but, what was I thinking? The weekend has become the crazy part of my week! We have entered the World of Soccer. All you soccer moms out there will totally know what I am talking about. We are still in the little leagues of it, only one practice a week and one game. Per child of course....I'm glad my son decided he didn't want to play. Two kids is enough! It was a beautiful weekend tho. The weather was awesome. The sun got bright during the afternoon game, but every few minutes it would rain so, it kept us nice an comfy. Only in Florida can you have rain on a sunny day. It is one of the wonders of the world. I put together a few goodies for Blog Candy today. I have been having way too much fun making stuff with coasters and patterned paper lately. Stampin' Up! has made it even easier to use these two items together by offering the Tombow Liquid Adhesive. If you haven't used it, you've got to! It is aw...
