Friday's birthday challenge

I have missed a few weeks of the Blogger's challenge due to convention and then catch up from convention. I really wanted to play today! It is the Friday before school starts, so...you can imagine all the craziness going on at my house full of kids! Lucky for me, I am too broke to buy back to school clothes so it has just been the kids, frantically squeezing in one more day of freedom ( and all that entails) that has me running around.
I did manage to fit some stampin/crafting time in today. I mostly played with my new Big Shot. I love it!! I don't have any awesome samples to show you yet. Just a whole lot of mess on my two craft tables. My daughter and her friend decided they needed to make cards in the middle of my crafting, so that slowed me down a bit. I love it when my kids take an interest in what I do. I feel it justifies me a bit, you know?
Anyway, I did need a birthday card for a dear friend, so I made this sweet butterfly card for her. I LOVE this new set! While I was at convention, I was making my wish list and this set was on it. Wasn't I surprised to see it in my bag of freebies! LOL Glad I looked before I ordered! It is a really easy set to line up. The colors I used are two of our new In Colors this year, Baja Breeze and Pacific point. They go great together! The skinny ribbon is basic WalMart ribbon. I am out of my beautiful Stampin' Up! Tafetta! I tell ya, those convention swaps hit my supplies pretty hard! Time to restock! I don't know if you can tell, but each little polka dot on the wings is dotted with 2-way glue and smothered with dazzling diamonds glitter. The scalloped edge is my scallop border punch. Love it!
Have a great weekend and be sure to check out the other blogger challenge players!

Fridays challenge #63

This week has been crazy. We had a fun Labor day and then actually went to school the rest of the week! The storms decided to stay away for a while. I'm glad. Our challenge this time was a color challenge. The colors are Ridinghood red, Tangerine and Pacific Point. All new In Colors at Stampin' Up! for the new catalog. I love all these colors but, together....they were a challenge! I decided to play up the red and blue and use the tangerine as a highlight. I pulled out my True Friend stamp set and stamped the large medallion style stamp all over the ridinghood red using my basic black stamp pad. It looked okay....but then I remembered the Banadana technique Pat shared in a recent Technique Junkie newsletter . You all know how much I LOVE my white gel pen, so...I went to work. I won't tell you how the bandana technique works, you'll have to visit Pat for that info. She puts out a fabulous newsletter every other month, FULL of great stampin ideas. I hear she has some gre...

Soccer, projects and....Blog Candy!!

Okay, I know I promised to post some blog candy a couple days ago but, what was I thinking? The weekend has become the crazy part of my week! We have entered the World of Soccer. All you soccer moms out there will totally know what I am talking about. We are still in the little leagues of it, only one practice a week and one game. Per child of course....I'm glad my son decided he didn't want to play. Two kids is enough! It was a beautiful weekend tho. The weather was awesome. The sun got bright during the afternoon game, but every few minutes it would rain so, it kept us nice an comfy. Only in Florida can you have rain on a sunny day. It is one of the wonders of the world. I put together a few goodies for Blog Candy today. I have been having way too much fun making stuff with coasters and patterned paper lately. Stampin' Up! has made it even easier to use these two items together by offering the Tombow Liquid Adhesive. If you haven't used it, you've got to! It is aw...

Birthday blog candy!

In honor of my birthday, I am offering another package of blog candy! All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite thing about getting older. :o) The candy includes a package of cardstock, metal edge tags, sanding block, cool metal border stickers, silver gel pen, and a set of mini gift cards stamped by yours truly. For some reason, my 'rechargeable batteries' decided not to 'recharge' anymore. I am quite distraught about that. I planned to share these pictures a couple of days ago, but....I had to wait til I bought some new batteries. I have to say tho, I was really afraid I had broken my camera! I'm glad it is just the batteries! I borrowed my friend's Precious stamp set the other day and have been having fun with it! I made this card using a square card base of chocolate chip (5-12" square). I stamped the swirlies in blue bayou onto a large piece of whisper white and onto a smaller piece. I cut out a butterfly and stuck i...
