Fridays labor challenge

This week's blogger challenge theme was Labor day or baby. LOL I thought that was pretty funny. Wouldn't it be great if Labor Day really was for moms. We enjoyed the day by getting massages, pedi and manicures, having our meals served and our chores all done? In other words, No labor in honor of all the Labor we go through to get our precious little ones here? Well, that isn't whats happening at my house on Monday. I can guarantee it! Good luck to all of you tho, let me know if you have a day like that!
What kind of card do you really make for Labor Day? All I could think of was Red White and Blue. So, here is my card. It would really work for a baby too I suppose, because the dots are actually Pink Piroette and not white. ;o) The dotted paper is from the Bella Rose DSP at Stampin' Up! I cut a strip approx 3 inches to go across the top of my 4-1/4 x 6-1/4 card. The card base is Pacific Point. I punched a tiny hole on the fold of the card and fed my generic white ribbon through and tied a nice bow. Did you know there were bow tying instructions in the new Stampin' Up! Idea book and catalog? (Jessie?) The instructions aren't for tying bows the way I do, but they work! If you are bow challenged, you might need the new catalog! Back to the card....I stamped "emjoy" and "the little things" with white craft ink and also used the white ink to stamp a circle of dots around each dot on the patterned paper to tie it all together. The center of the O in enjoy is a build a brad with one pink polka dot punched out and layered in it. I figured this greeting could work for "Enjoy the little things" like..a day off of work, or a new baby!

Since I had my stuff out, I decided to try another die cut basket using my new Sizzix Big Shot. For those of you that were at Kim's workshop last week, I have to apologize.I was doing it wrong! SO Sorry! Diane has an excellent tutorial on her blog here. Check it out. It works WAY easier! I used the rest of my Bella Rose dotted sheet for the basket and filled a cello bag with left over strips of Bella that I crimped and a few little stamps. This will be a hostess gift next month. Are YOU having a workshop? It could totally be YOURS!
Have a great three day weekend. We are FINALLY taking our kids to Blue Springs. They have been BEGGING all summer! We just never had a day we could do it. It better be nice weather....!

Beckie- I love the colors you chose on your project. Your card is so cute - like you said, perfect for a baby card or patriotic card! Ahhh - I agree with you too, a spa day sounds FABULOUS! FOr my birthday 2 months ago I got a gc for a massage and I still have not had time to relax and use it! Hopefully in September I will! Have a great weekend!

Your card turned out great! It seems like several of us had dots/circles on our mind for some reason! :)

Love your card, Beckie! The build a brad looks great for the "o" in enjoy and so do the dotted circles you added to the patterned paper.

A very nice card. Polka Dots are always so "in" and look great with the Red, White & Blue color scheme too.

Bradley

Sunday, my best friend died. My sweetheart of 20 years died suddenly from diabetes. We didn't know he had diabetes. It came quick and took him from me. Brad was more than just my husband, he was my best friend. I relied so very much on his strength to guide me and my children through this life. I admit I feel a bit lost without him, already. I had planned on much, much more time with him. Brad and I met on January 28th, 1989. We were both at a nightclub for under age night with our friends that had dragged us there. We were both ready to leave when we were talked into one more dance. That dance changed our lives. We hit it off right away and danced the rest of the night. In face, we were together from then on. I remember that after that night, I waited all day for his call. It was love right away for me. I felt something I had never felt before and knew that he was the one for me. We dated for six months before Brad went to Texas to go to school. We talked a lot on the phone, and I...

Blog candy!!

I am almost to 1000 hits on my blog so I am giving away some blog candy! I've got a cool stamped canvas ready for your picture, some clear and colored buttons, sticky tiles, a stampin sponge, and a stack of about 50 coasters ready for your creativity! To be entered in the drawing for the blog candy, please answer the following question. I will draw a winner tomorrow (Friday) night and post the winner on Saturday after I get back from the SU regional in Tampa. Q: What is the last book you read that really inspired you?

Doubles with candy!!

Today is another fun summer day at my house. The kids are running here and there and I'm just trying to keep up. I realized I hadn't sent out Father's day cards yet, so that is what I worked on today. I tried to keep these nice and clean and manly. I remember going to a demonstration at a Stampin' Up! convention years ago where Kevin Theeson and another guy(I forget his name....) talked about 'manly' cards. One of the things they stressed was that guys don't like cards made with pastel cards. They prefer bold bright and earth element colors. I'm not sure if they suggested we stay away from florals too, but I kind of figured that was a safe idea. ;o) For this card I started with some textured Wild Wasabi cardstock cut to 10-1/2 x 5-1/4. That gave me a 5-1/4" card when folded. The striped paper across the center is from a retired SU simply scrappin kit...primary colors I think it was called. I added a strip of Real Red to each side of the stripes for...
