Okay, so I thought about this one for a while...template? What does that mean exactly? Stencils came to mind...patterns, etc. But then I thought that maybe templates are what we used to make cool 3D items before we got the awesome Big Shot! Yes, I admit...I was really trying to spin this so I could use my new Matchbox die that came this week. Holy cow does this cut down on your time! Amazing! This die is one of the "So Shelli" line. What can I say? I love you Shelli!
Check out these two adorable little boxes I made in, like, NO time! The first one is made with the Urban Garden DSP. It is the same paper, just different sides showing for the sleeve and the drawer. I tied a bit of Navy narrow organdy around it and layered two of the labels that are included in the matchbox die. The "celebrate" is from the new Good Friend set and it fits beautifully!
This second box has a little more to it. I cut the sleeve from Perfect Plum cardstock and the drawer from pale plum cardstock. On the sleeve, I stamped the swirls from Baroque Motifs using Craft pale plum ink. I embossed it with Pretty Pearl embossing powder to give it a really cool look. The great thing about these little boxes is that you almost don't even need adhesive to hold it together, well, except for the sleeve.
The drawer folds together so nicely, it holds itself together. I did add a bit of Dotto...just for more stability. To hold the sleeve I used three glue dots along the tab. I wanted sticky strip but..I'm out! (Yikes!) I used markers to ink up the greeting (pale and perfect plum) and punched it out with a circle punch. The butterfly is from another Die, using vellum cardstock. I inked the edges of the butterfly with Craft pale plum using my finger to spread it around. Then I did the same with my 2-way glue pen. I put the glue around the outside edges and then smeared it in with my finger. I added dazzling diamonds glitter to the glue and two flat pearls with another glue dot. I really wanted a ribbon on here but it got a bit busy on the front wo I added it so it tied on the side.
This would be a perfect little wedding shower favor, thank you gift, or ... you could even make a bunch and stack them for a little mini set of drawers! I love it!
