Hello again!

I did not fall off the face of the earth, more like the earth

fell on my face. LOL Just kidding. I did run into my front door with my face and got a nice big bruise. I will not force you to look at the pictures of that. Let's just say, I am not known for my gracefulness and everyone can tell just by looking at my face.

I have been trying to catch up on loads of stuff before the kiddos are out of school for Christmas break. You couldn't tell by looking at my house tho!

I have done some stamping. I did these for my bloggers challenge group but did not get them out on the days I was supposed to. I will share them anyway and hope the other blogger challenge players will forgive me for my tardiness. This first card is one I made to show versatility in stamps. I made another one but didn't manage to get a picture of it. I love this set! Lovely as a Tree is a perfect stamp set for every occasion. If I was going to have one stamp set, I think it might be this one. It is incredibly versatile. If you don't have one already, let's order you one!

This card was another challenge. We were supposed to do a card using a watercolor technique. I really wanted to use this set. It is SO pretty! My friend Jess ordered it and let me use it before I gave it to her. (Thanks Jess!) I stamped it with black Stazon onto watercolor paper and used the watercolor crayons to color it in. My favorite way to use the WC crayons is to use the aquapainter to pick up color right from the crayons. I don't even take them out of their box. I use them like a huge watercolor pallet. I am not a pro at watercolor yet, but I was pretty happy with how this turned out. I used my new oval scallop nestable dies to cut out the image, layered it over white natural paper, artichoke paper stamped with the french swirl, and some Yummy chocolate satin ribbon. The brad is a fire rhinestone and the words are from a hostess set from last year. I forget the name of it....

In other news, I received my complimentary copy of the new Spring/Summer Stampin' Up! idea book and catalog. (whew!) It is awesome! I am so excited about all the new stamps and especially the new samples! They are even better than the last catalog. Everything is fresh and springy! I'm booking workshops so let me know when you want to hold yours!

Bradley

Sunday, my best friend died. My sweetheart of 20 years died suddenly from diabetes. We didn't know he had diabetes. It came quick and took him from me. Brad was more than just my husband, he was my best friend. I relied so very much on his strength to guide me and my children through this life. I admit I feel a bit lost without him, already. I had planned on much, much more time with him. Brad and I met on January 28th, 1989. We were both at a nightclub for under age night with our friends that had dragged us there. We were both ready to leave when we were talked into one more dance. That dance changed our lives. We hit it off right away and danced the rest of the night. In face, we were together from then on. I remember that after that night, I waited all day for his call. It was love right away for me. I felt something I had never felt before and knew that he was the one for me. We dated for six months before Brad went to Texas to go to school. We talked a lot on the phone, and I...

I will draw a winner tomorrow (Friday) night and post the winner on Saturday after I get back from the SU regional in Tampa. Q: What is the last book you read that really inspired you?

Doubles with candy!!

Today is another fun summer day at my house. The kids are running here and there and I'm just trying to keep up. I realized I hadn't sent out Father's day cards yet, so that is what I worked on today. I tried to keep these nice and clean and manly. I remember going to a demonstration at a Stampin' Up! convention years ago where Kevin Theeson and another guy(I forget his name....) talked about 'manly' cards. One of the things they stressed was that guys don't like cards made with pastel cards. They prefer bold bright and earth element colors. I'm not sure if they suggested we stay away from florals too, but I kind of figured that was a safe idea. ;o) For this card I started with some textured Wild Wasabi cardstock cut to 10-1/2 x 5-1/4. That gave me a 5-1/4" card when folded. The striped paper across the center is from a retired SU simply scrappin kit...primary colors I think it was called. I added a strip of Real Red to each side of the stripes for...
