Sympathy card

One of the blogger challenges was to do a sympathy card. I, thankfully, have not had much need for these cards. I'm sure I will in the future. You know...One of those "circle of life things" so I was happy to make one. I used the M3 to color the image on the stamp and then stamped it onto whisper white cardstock. I colored in the image by dipping my blender pen into my pastels and coloring with that. It gives it a faux watercolor effect. I used a sponge dauber to rub some bashful blue chalk around the image to soften it up. I roughed up the edges of the white paper wtih my cutter kit and layered it onto a card base of kraft. The patterned paper is from catalogs past.

I have been making lots of these little mini albums lately. For the cover, I use left over chip board pieces from packages of designer paper or other packaging. I cover them with paper and then use my bind-it-all to punch holes and put the spiral binding on. This one has stamped pages as well. They are loads of fun to make and pretty inexpensive! I went to Staples and had them cut a whole ream of paper into difference sizes for the different books I wanted to make. That was a HUGE time saver! The ribbon on here is SU ribbon from the Holiday mini. It is SO yummy!! The paper is from a craft store somewhere. It is embossed and shimmery. It goes great with the ribbon! I used some hodgepodge hardward for the title and hand wrote Journal.

Fridays challenge #63

This week has been crazy. We had a fun Labor day and then actually went to school the rest of the week! The storms decided to stay away for a while. I'm glad. Our challenge this time was a color challenge. The colors are Ridinghood red, Tangerine and Pacific Point. All new In Colors at Stampin' Up! for the new catalog. I love all these colors but, together....they were a challenge! I decided to play up the red and blue and use the tangerine as a highlight. I pulled out my True Friend stamp set and stamped the large medallion style stamp all over the ridinghood red using my basic black stamp pad. It looked okay....but then I remembered the Banadana technique Pat shared in a recent Technique Junkie newsletter . You all know how much I LOVE my white gel pen, so...I went to work. I won't tell you how the bandana technique works, you'll have to visit Pat for that info. She puts out a fabulous newsletter every other month, FULL of great stampin ideas. I hear she has some gre...

Soccer, projects and....Blog Candy!!

Okay, I know I promised to post some blog candy a couple days ago but, what was I thinking? The weekend has become the crazy part of my week! We have entered the World of Soccer. All you soccer moms out there will totally know what I am talking about. We are still in the little leagues of it, only one practice a week and one game. Per child of course....I'm glad my son decided he didn't want to play. Two kids is enough! It was a beautiful weekend tho. The weather was awesome. The sun got bright during the afternoon game, but every few minutes it would rain so, it kept us nice an comfy. Only in Florida can you have rain on a sunny day. It is one of the wonders of the world. I put together a few goodies for Blog Candy today. I have been having way too much fun making stuff with coasters and patterned paper lately. Stampin' Up! has made it even easier to use these two items together by offering the Tombow Liquid Adhesive. If you haven't used it, you've got to! It is aw...

Birthday blog candy!

In honor of my birthday, I am offering another package of blog candy! All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite thing about getting older. :o) The candy includes a package of cardstock, metal edge tags, sanding block, cool metal border stickers, silver gel pen, and a set of mini gift cards stamped by yours truly. For some reason, my 'rechargeable batteries' decided not to 'recharge' anymore. I am quite distraught about that. I planned to share these pictures a couple of days ago, but....I had to wait til I bought some new batteries. I have to say tho, I was really afraid I had broken my camera! I'm glad it is just the batteries! I borrowed my friend's Precious stamp set the other day and have been having fun with it! I made this card using a square card base of chocolate chip (5-12" square). I stamped the swirlies in blue bayou onto a large piece of whisper white and onto a smaller piece. I cut out a butterfly and stuck i...
