Joyful wishes

I got a call this morning from a friend asking if I would make her a special Christmas card for her daughter's teacher. I felt so honored! I was inspired by a project in the January Stampin' Success. That is a magazine that comes to every SU demonstrator each month. It is full of business tips, stamping ideas, organization tips, upcoming specials and just all around good stuff! I tweeked it a bit to fit my taste and the Christmas theme. I think it turned out great. I purchased the Illuminations set right after the Fall catalog came out and have not used it much. I love how elegant it looks here.

All the images are stamped with Chocolate chip. I used the blender pens to pick up ink from mellow moss, burgundy and banana pads to color them in. I cut out the J, the flowers and the leaves and adhered them with Dotto. The pearls are from the Pretties kit and stuck on with mini glue dots. The card base is chocolate chip layered with a sheet of Apple Cider designer paper, river rock, and Ivory naturals cardstock. The scallop border was made using the slot punch and the 1/8" circle punch. I rubbed all the edges with my chalk Mocha pad to soften it all. I even stamped the inside! It seems a shame to leave it empty after all that hard work on the outside!

Now, this isn't a card I would make stacks of, but every now and then we all need to take some time and make a one of a kind master piece. Even if it is a bit cased.

Bradley

Sunday, my best friend died. My sweetheart of 20 years died suddenly from diabetes. We didn't know he had diabetes. It came quick and took him from me. Brad was more than just my husband, he was my best friend. I relied so very much on his strength to guide me and my children through this life. I admit I feel a bit lost without him, already. I had planned on much, much more time with him. Brad and I met on January 28th, 1989. We were both at a nightclub for under age night with our friends that had dragged us there. We were both ready to leave when we were talked into one more dance. That dance changed our lives. We hit it off right away and danced the rest of the night. In face, we were together from then on. I remember that after that night, I waited all day for his call. It was love right away for me. I felt something I had never felt before and knew that he was the one for me. We dated for six months before Brad went to Texas to go to school. We talked a lot on the phone, and I...

Soccer, projects and....Blog Candy!!

Okay, I know I promised to post some blog candy a couple days ago but, what was I thinking? The weekend has become the crazy part of my week! We have entered the World of Soccer. All you soccer moms out there will totally know what I am talking about. We are still in the little leagues of it, only one practice a week and one game. Per child of course....I'm glad my son decided he didn't want to play. Two kids is enough! It was a beautiful weekend tho. The weather was awesome. The sun got bright during the afternoon game, but every few minutes it would rain so, it kept us nice an comfy. Only in Florida can you have rain on a sunny day. It is one of the wonders of the world. I put together a few goodies for Blog Candy today. I have been having way too much fun making stuff with coasters and patterned paper lately. Stampin' Up! has made it even easier to use these two items together by offering the Tombow Liquid Adhesive. If you haven't used it, you've got to! It is aw...

Doubles with candy!!

Today is another fun summer day at my house. The kids are running here and there and I'm just trying to keep up. I realized I hadn't sent out Father's day cards yet, so that is what I worked on today. I tried to keep these nice and clean and manly. I remember going to a demonstration at a Stampin' Up! convention years ago where Kevin Theeson and another guy(I forget his name....) talked about 'manly' cards. One of the things they stressed was that guys don't like cards made with pastel cards. They prefer bold bright and earth element colors. I'm not sure if they suggested we stay away from florals too, but I kind of figured that was a safe idea. ;o) For this card I started with some textured Wild Wasabi cardstock cut to 10-1/2 x 5-1/4. That gave me a 5-1/4" card when folded. The striped paper across the center is from a retired SU simply scrappin kit...primary colors I think it was called. I added a strip of Real Red to each side of the stripes for...
