I was inspired last night by Michelle's post (www.painteddesertserenage.blogspot.com) where she used the flirty ribbon combined with another ribbon. I decided to use my Carte Postale set again since it is leaving soon. I will miss it! Actually, I will keep it and hoard it and use it for my own personal use! It is a very versatile set. I just love it! The cardstocks I used are Regal Rose, Mellow Moss, and of course, white. I colored on the stamp to get the multicolored image for the 'background' paper and stamped twice from each coloring to get different intensities and add depth. The focal point is embossed with detail gold embossing powder and then chalked. I added some crystal effects to the flower to give it a bit more presence. I punched the holes on the side with my 1/16" hole punch and sqeeeeeezed the ribbons through. I chose that size because I didn't want to really see the holes. (You still can, but don't tell me) Looking at the card now, I think I probably would like it a bit more if I had stamped the canvas background on the pink part. Oh well! I am back to my cakes now. I have one batch done and the next in the over. I went to the gym....kinda had to since I was going to be licking my fingers the rest of the day! Now I feel justified. All of your happy cake wishes are SO appreciated! I'll post a pic of the cake when I finish...if my scan disk is working. I don't think I will attemp the scanner on the cake....

Bradley

Sunday, my best friend died. My sweetheart of 20 years died suddenly from diabetes. We didn't know he had diabetes. It came quick and took him from me. Brad was more than just my husband, he was my best friend. I relied so very much on his strength to guide me and my children through this life. I admit I feel a bit lost without him, already. I had planned on much, much more time with him. Brad and I met on January 28th, 1989. We were both at a nightclub for under age night with our friends that had dragged us there. We were both ready to leave when we were talked into one more dance. That dance changed our lives. We hit it off right away and danced the rest of the night. In face, we were together from then on. I remember that after that night, I waited all day for his call. It was love right away for me. I felt something I had never felt before and knew that he was the one for me. We dated for six months before Brad went to Texas to go to school. We talked a lot on the phone, and I...

Soccer, projects and....Blog Candy!!

Okay, I know I promised to post some blog candy a couple days ago but, what was I thinking? The weekend has become the crazy part of my week! We have entered the World of Soccer. All you soccer moms out there will totally know what I am talking about. We are still in the little leagues of it, only one practice a week and one game. Per child of course....I'm glad my son decided he didn't want to play. Two kids is enough! It was a beautiful weekend tho. The weather was awesome. The sun got bright during the afternoon game, but every few minutes it would rain so, it kept us nice an comfy. Only in Florida can you have rain on a sunny day. It is one of the wonders of the world. I put together a few goodies for Blog Candy today. I have been having way too much fun making stuff with coasters and patterned paper lately. Stampin' Up! has made it even easier to use these two items together by offering the Tombow Liquid Adhesive. If you haven't used it, you've got to! It is aw...

Doubles with candy!!

Today is another fun summer day at my house. The kids are running here and there and I'm just trying to keep up. I realized I hadn't sent out Father's day cards yet, so that is what I worked on today. I tried to keep these nice and clean and manly. I remember going to a demonstration at a Stampin' Up! convention years ago where Kevin Theeson and another guy(I forget his name....) talked about 'manly' cards. One of the things they stressed was that guys don't like cards made with pastel cards. They prefer bold bright and earth element colors. I'm not sure if they suggested we stay away from florals too, but I kind of figured that was a safe idea. ;o) For this card I started with some textured Wild Wasabi cardstock cut to 10-1/2 x 5-1/4. That gave me a 5-1/4" card when folded. The striped paper across the center is from a retired SU simply scrappin kit...primary colors I think it was called. I added a strip of Real Red to each side of the stripes for...
