How would you like to have one of these for a pet? There are a couple of these peacocks that roam our neighborhood. The first time we saw them was on the way to school one day. My daughter was running late and we had just come around the corner when we saw these birds in the middle of the road. What could we do? We stopped and gawked at them of course. When she got to school, she told the office she was late because there was a peacock in the road. Funny excuse, but the office worker said, oh, you must live in my neighborhood! She was excused. That was a couple of years ago and the birds are still wandering free. Sunday was only the second time we were lucky enough to see them open their tails. It is an amazing sight! We tried to get closer but they closed up.
Today was another session of Stampin' Therapy at my house! I was finally able to play with my big blooms set a big. Here are a few cards I came up with. I admit I was highly influenced by the samples on Debbie's blog. I don't think I copied them completely... The first one is a tall skinny card to fit in the open end envelopes from SU. The card base is whisper white with a rectangle of green galore over the bottom 1/3. I stamped the canvas stamp on the green and tied a piece of spring green grosgrain around it before I adhered it to the card. I stamped the two medium flowers from the set in cameo coral and summer sun and then cut them out. I cut out a stem and a couple leaves freehand. I curled the petals of the flowers around a marker to give them a bit of 'lift' and then stuck the layers together with dimensionals. The center of the flower is a piece of white paper I rubbed with the coral pad and then punched out. (I admit, I was too lazy to get up and look for some coral paper...) I stuck it all together and stamped the happy everything from it's self named set in basic black.
The next card was done by coloring with the M3 markers directly onto the stamp. I used pixie pink, summer sun and only orange for the flowers and green galore for the grass/stem. I used Debbie's idea of turning the stem upside down to make grass. So clever! The background paper at the bottom is from the Just Delightful SAB scrap set. The card base is only orange and the flower mount is summer sun. I ted a big of spring green ribbon around the front and tied a tag with natural hemp. I added a bit of crystal effects to the middle of each flower to give it a bit of pop.
I think I like this set! I am looking forward to playing with it some more...maybe after bedtime for the munchkins.
