Bloggers challenge Friday

It is that time again! This week for the bloggers challenge we were to combine Old Olive, Taken with Teal, Pumpkin pie and Rose red. Not my typical color combo! I started by getting piece of each of the colors of cardstock and just laying them on top of each other in different orders. I realized that the color combo isn't a new one, it is the same basic color combo that is in the Bali Breeze DSP packet. I knew the exact sheet from the collection I wanted to use. Unfortunately, I had already used all of that sheet! Figures....I decided this floral sheet was my next choice so I pulled it out. I used it for the floral strip as well as for the tiny flower in the middle of my Build A Brad. (these are cool!) The card base is Old Olive with Taken with Teal layered over that. Because I was using a floral paper, I didn't want to put another flower on here unless it was the same. I went with a word for the focal point instead. I haven't used this set much but had a ball with it today! Enjoy is stamped with Old Olive, and 'the little things' is stamped with Pumpkin Pie. The smaller dotted cirlcle in the background is stamped with craft white. The larger dotted circle is my handy dandy white gel pen. I added the Olive, pumpkin, and rose strips for more added punch and then dressed it up by added 1/4" punched circles to the olive strip. The wide grosgrain is celery but...come on, it is close to the same color! I added a few silver mini brads to the corners to anchor the whole thing. This is a 6 x 6 card and when I finished....I wasn't sure what it was for! Do you ever do that? I brainstormed a bit and decided with the sentiment on the outside and the size of the card it would be perfect for a CD holder! I took another piece of Olive cardstock, cut it at a slight curve and used my sewing machine to sew it to the inside of the card. The white dots are my white gel pen at work again. (yes, I have about 10 at my desk in varying levels of ink) I added a circle of Rose Red with the journaling circle of flowers in the middle. I used my M3 to color the flowers and lines different colors. I LOVE how easy it is to get that awesome multi color look! I hunted around for a CD to put in here and then thought...what a great possible recruit card! I stuck a First Impressions DVD in there and plan to give it to a gal that I know that would make a GREAT demonstrator, this weekend!

In other news, my son T fell out of a tree last night and may have broken his arm. This is not the same arm he broke last time, it is the Left one. Poor guy! We will be at the doctor Friday morning getting x-rays and possible a cast. He is a tough guy. No pain meds, no ice, just lots of pizza and movies. hmmm sounds like his dad! I'll keep ya posted. Last time he broke his arm his little brother broke His arm 5 months later. I'm hoping we can keep this from becoming a pattern!

Enjoy your day!

Bradley

Sunday, my best friend died. My sweetheart of 20 years died suddenly from diabetes. We didn't know he had diabetes. It came quick and took him from me. Brad was more than just my husband, he was my best friend. I relied so very much on his strength to guide me and my children through this life. I admit I feel a bit lost without him, already. I had planned on much, much more time with him. Brad and I met on January 28th, 1989. We were both at a nightclub for under age night with our friends that had dragged us there. We were both ready to leave when we were talked into one more dance. That dance changed our lives. We hit it off right away and danced the rest of the night. In face, we were together from then on. I remember that after that night, I waited all day for his call. It was love right away for me. I felt something I had never felt before and knew that he was the one for me. We dated for six months before Brad went to Texas to go to school. We talked a lot on the phone, and I...

Birthday blog candy!

In honor of my birthday, I am offering another package of blog candy! All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite thing about getting older. :o) The candy includes a package of cardstock, metal edge tags, sanding block, cool metal border stickers, silver gel pen, and a set of mini gift cards stamped by yours truly. For some reason, my 'rechargeable batteries' decided not to 'recharge' anymore. I am quite distraught about that. I planned to share these pictures a couple of days ago, but....I had to wait til I bought some new batteries. I have to say tho, I was really afraid I had broken my camera! I'm glad it is just the batteries! I borrowed my friend's Precious stamp set the other day and have been having fun with it! I made this card using a square card base of chocolate chip (5-12" square). I stamped the swirlies in blue bayou onto a large piece of whisper white and onto a smaller piece. I cut out a butterfly and stuck i...

Soccer, projects and....Blog Candy!!

Okay, I know I promised to post some blog candy a couple days ago but, what was I thinking? The weekend has become the crazy part of my week! We have entered the World of Soccer. All you soccer moms out there will totally know what I am talking about. We are still in the little leagues of it, only one practice a week and one game. Per child of course....I'm glad my son decided he didn't want to play. Two kids is enough! It was a beautiful weekend tho. The weather was awesome. The sun got bright during the afternoon game, but every few minutes it would rain so, it kept us nice an comfy. Only in Florida can you have rain on a sunny day. It is one of the wonders of the world. I put together a few goodies for Blog Candy today. I have been having way too much fun making stuff with coasters and patterned paper lately. Stampin' Up! has made it even easier to use these two items together by offering the Tombow Liquid Adhesive. If you haven't used it, you've got to! It is aw...
