I'm seeing spots!

I just LOVE this paper! It isn't a new paper, it has been around for a while. The Cute Pie collection is just so fun and full of bright colors. I sat down at my desk to make some Valentine cards and this paper just flew into my hands! This first card is a smaller than normal card. It measures 4-1/2 inches square. I used Basic black as the base and a square of whisper white under the polka dots. The "Hello" is a rub-on from the Anchored collection. To tell you the truth, I was tempted to just leave the card with only the Hello on there! These rub-ons look so clean and awesome, I have totally fallen in love with them! They are super easy to use too. I don't even use the popcicle stick anymore. Just my thumbnail. (yes, that amazing discovery happened when I couldn't find my stick....) I decided to go ahead and add some more to the card by folding a bit of wide celery grosgrain ribbon for leaves and adding a big daisy from the pretties kit. I punched a circle from Barely banana and just had to put one more rub-on on there. The circle says "forever friends" and is from the same rub-on set. I added a bit of bling with a clear rhinestone brad from the pretties kit and called it good. I still had all that awesome paper on my desk tho, so I decided to make a few more cards.

This next one uses the same papers with an addition of strips of Purely Pomegranite to make the X. I punched out the scallop in black and added an O that I made by punching a 1 inch circle and then a 1-1/4" circle. I added another rub-on to the center of that, and stuck the XO on with snail and then with staples. I put the rick rack on , just for mom and added a Pink rhinestone to the ends. The black strip up top was a bit overpowering so I added some dottage with my white gel pen. This card is a bit bigger, measuring in at 5 inches square.

These last two cards are pretty self explanitory. Very simple and classic. The white dots around the scallop are with the white gel pen. I couldn't decide if I liked the white strip or black strip better. What do you think?

I think I need to go back into my stamp room for some therapy now....I'll blog at ya later!

Bradley

Sunday, my best friend died. My sweetheart of 20 years died suddenly from diabetes. We didn't know he had diabetes. It came quick and took him from me. Brad was more than just my husband, he was my best friend. I relied so very much on his strength to guide me and my children through this life. I admit I feel a bit lost without him, already. I had planned on much, much more time with him. Brad and I met on January 28th, 1989. We were both at a nightclub for under age night with our friends that had dragged us there. We were both ready to leave when we were talked into one more dance. That dance changed our lives. We hit it off right away and danced the rest of the night. In face, we were together from then on. I remember that after that night, I waited all day for his call. It was love right away for me. I felt something I had never felt before and knew that he was the one for me. We dated for six months before Brad went to Texas to go to school. We talked a lot on the phone, and I...

Doubles with candy!!

Today is another fun summer day at my house. The kids are running here and there and I'm just trying to keep up. I realized I hadn't sent out Father's day cards yet, so that is what I worked on today. I tried to keep these nice and clean and manly. I remember going to a demonstration at a Stampin' Up! convention years ago where Kevin Theeson and another guy(I forget his name....) talked about 'manly' cards. One of the things they stressed was that guys don't like cards made with pastel cards. They prefer bold bright and earth element colors. I'm not sure if they suggested we stay away from florals too, but I kind of figured that was a safe idea. ;o) For this card I started with some textured Wild Wasabi cardstock cut to 10-1/2 x 5-1/4. That gave me a 5-1/4" card when folded. The striped paper across the center is from a retired SU simply scrappin kit...primary colors I think it was called. I added a strip of Real Red to each side of the stripes for...
