Catching my breath

The last two weeks have been a blur for me. I had no idea all the 'stuff' you had to do when someone died. I am so very grateful for all the wonderful family and friends that have been there to guide me, advise me, make me laugh, and to lend me a shoulder to cry on. It has not been easy, but I can't imagine making it at all with out all these wonderful people! I have stacks and stacks of beautiful cards from friends all over the country....and some from people I don't even know! It is amazing to me the outpouring of love that has come to my family. Thank you!! Here is a picture of my parents and my siblings. I can't remember when we have every been all together at MY house. It was a treat.
This last week, we were in Arizona for the burial of my husband. I decided to bury him in Taylor, AZ because my ancestors settled that part of Arizona and several of them are buried in that same cemetery. Besides, when and if the kids and I move that way, we will be able to visit his grave. Taylor is 3 hours away from most everyone that came to the service. We had quite a group there. The wind was incredible! I think a few of the people that came were actually blown home afterward. wow!

After we did the ceremony, we went to the local LDS church for a light luncheon and visiting. I was really treading softly to avoid crying my eyes out. It was tough, but good friends helped me through. My friend Michelle drove from California the day before, 6 hours! and then the 3 hours more to Taylor. She is the best! I hung out with her and Kimber at the luncheon. Dear, dear friends. After the luncheon, we went back to see the filled in grave. The wind was brutal, and cold, and filled with sand. I went out for a quick peek and Ben ran after me. I explained to him that under the dirt was daddy's body, but his spirit was up in heaven with Heavenly Father. He looked at me and said, "He'll be alright.". No doubt in this little guy that his daddy would be fine. It was such a comfort to me. I am so grateful for my children. They are the best!

We spent the night in Holbrook....check a map...I dare ya! It will be just a speck! then we headed home to my sister's house. The kids had a good time with their cousins, especially riding on their quad. What a treat! They rode for hours.

My sister's house was also fun because she actually has chickens! Doesn't live on a farm or anything, just has chickens in the back yard. I'm not sure how impressed Mae was of this one...they are huge! I guess my brother in law knows how to keep them in line. He is the 'rooster.' LOL He is actually letting the chicken grab his ring, but it sure looks like he is treatening her!

I loved seeing you in AZ. Selfishly, my hope is that you end up in AZ so I can see you more often! And that wind nearly defies description! I was covered in grit...even in my ears! Yuck!

Bradley

Sunday, my best friend died. My sweetheart of 20 years died suddenly from diabetes. We didn't know he had diabetes. It came quick and took him from me. Brad was more than just my husband, he was my best friend. I relied so very much on his strength to guide me and my children through this life. I admit I feel a bit lost without him, already. I had planned on much, much more time with him. Brad and I met on January 28th, 1989. We were both at a nightclub for under age night with our friends that had dragged us there. We were both ready to leave when we were talked into one more dance. That dance changed our lives. We hit it off right away and danced the rest of the night. In face, we were together from then on. I remember that after that night, I waited all day for his call. It was love right away for me. I felt something I had never felt before and knew that he was the one for me. We dated for six months before Brad went to Texas to go to school. We talked a lot on the phone, and I...

Doubles with candy!!

Today is another fun summer day at my house. The kids are running here and there and I'm just trying to keep up. I realized I hadn't sent out Father's day cards yet, so that is what I worked on today. I tried to keep these nice and clean and manly. I remember going to a demonstration at a Stampin' Up! convention years ago where Kevin Theeson and another guy(I forget his name....) talked about 'manly' cards. One of the things they stressed was that guys don't like cards made with pastel cards. They prefer bold bright and earth element colors. I'm not sure if they suggested we stay away from florals too, but I kind of figured that was a safe idea. ;o) For this card I started with some textured Wild Wasabi cardstock cut to 10-1/2 x 5-1/4. That gave me a 5-1/4" card when folded. The striped paper across the center is from a retired SU simply scrappin kit...primary colors I think it was called. I added a strip of Real Red to each side of the stripes for...
