Growing by dreams

It is raining like crazy here! It wouldn't be a big deal, but my car is broken and we are having to walk to the bus stop. We usually do, but if it is raining, we would drive. I can't complain tho, amazing as it may sound, each time we have had to walk out to the bus (twice) the rain has eased up a bit til the kids get on the bus. It really makes me feel like we are being watched over. Rain isn't a big deal, but still....it is comforting.
As you may remember, I made my own background paper for last Friday's challenge. I made a full sheet and have been looking at the left overs for a few days now, wondering what I wanted to do with them. I ended up cutting it into smaller pieces and using it on different projects. This one uses a set I wasn't overly fond of at first. I wasn't sure what "we grow great by dreams" was trying to say. It doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, if you know what I mean. The more I looked at it and thought about it, the more I really started to like it. I am a big believer in goals and really, aren't goals dreams? I think they are. So, my take on this is to set your goals, work towards them, and then you will be great.
My card base is actually purely pomegranate even tho the roses were stamped with riding hood red and regal rose. It actually looks fine together. The DSP is celery. I stamped the focal point with stazon black twice and cut out the "dreams" with the flower from one and layered it on the other with dimensionals. I added a bit of white gel pen around the floral piece just to give it a bit of a border.
Have a wonderful day! I am off to prep for my stamp a stack and scrap night which is tomorrow. If you are in the area, come on over! :o)

Fridays challenge #63

This week has been crazy. We had a fun Labor day and then actually went to school the rest of the week! The storms decided to stay away for a while. I'm glad. Our challenge this time was a color challenge. The colors are Ridinghood red, Tangerine and Pacific Point. All new In Colors at Stampin' Up! for the new catalog. I love all these colors but, together....they were a challenge! I decided to play up the red and blue and use the tangerine as a highlight. I pulled out my True Friend stamp set and stamped the large medallion style stamp all over the ridinghood red using my basic black stamp pad. It looked okay....but then I remembered the Banadana technique Pat shared in a recent Technique Junkie newsletter . You all know how much I LOVE my white gel pen, so...I went to work. I won't tell you how the bandana technique works, you'll have to visit Pat for that info. She puts out a fabulous newsletter every other month, FULL of great stampin ideas. I hear she has some gre...

Soccer, projects and....Blog Candy!!

Okay, I know I promised to post some blog candy a couple days ago but, what was I thinking? The weekend has become the crazy part of my week! We have entered the World of Soccer. All you soccer moms out there will totally know what I am talking about. We are still in the little leagues of it, only one practice a week and one game. Per child of course....I'm glad my son decided he didn't want to play. Two kids is enough! It was a beautiful weekend tho. The weather was awesome. The sun got bright during the afternoon game, but every few minutes it would rain so, it kept us nice an comfy. Only in Florida can you have rain on a sunny day. It is one of the wonders of the world. I put together a few goodies for Blog Candy today. I have been having way too much fun making stuff with coasters and patterned paper lately. Stampin' Up! has made it even easier to use these two items together by offering the Tombow Liquid Adhesive. If you haven't used it, you've got to! It is aw...

Birthday blog candy!

In honor of my birthday, I am offering another package of blog candy! All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite thing about getting older. :o) The candy includes a package of cardstock, metal edge tags, sanding block, cool metal border stickers, silver gel pen, and a set of mini gift cards stamped by yours truly. For some reason, my 'rechargeable batteries' decided not to 'recharge' anymore. I am quite distraught about that. I planned to share these pictures a couple of days ago, but....I had to wait til I bought some new batteries. I have to say tho, I was really afraid I had broken my camera! I'm glad it is just the batteries! I borrowed my friend's Precious stamp set the other day and have been having fun with it! I made this card using a square card base of chocolate chip (5-12" square). I stamped the swirlies in blue bayou onto a large piece of whisper white and onto a smaller piece. I cut out a butterfly and stuck i...
