Birthday wishes

I had a couple of birthdays I needed to make cards for this week. Since these cards were for ladies, I decided to go for the super girly look. Remember how I said I liked to think of three different ways I could use a stamp before I bought it? Well, here is another way to use this great flower from the Bella Blossoms set. I stamped the flower onto Pirouette pink cardstock using white craft ink. I let it dry for a minute or so and then gently rubbed pastels over it to give it the soft, colored look. The white also gives it a sort of 'under-shimmer' if you know what I mean. I added a white scalloped edge, greeting and some riding hood red taffetta ribbon. Then, as a finishing touch, I added some dazzling diamonds to the center of the flower. I layered the card onto a piece of ruby red cardstock. It looks great with the pirouette pink, belive it or not! This is the way we used to do the "poppin pastel" technique back before we had the Versamark pad. I like it because it does look a bit different and has more depth than the Vmark way.

Bradley

Sunday, my best friend died. My sweetheart of 20 years died suddenly from diabetes. We didn't know he had diabetes. It came quick and took him from me. Brad was more than just my husband, he was my best friend. I relied so very much on his strength to guide me and my children through this life. I admit I feel a bit lost without him, already. I had planned on much, much more time with him. Brad and I met on January 28th, 1989. We were both at a nightclub for under age night with our friends that had dragged us there. We were both ready to leave when we were talked into one more dance. That dance changed our lives. We hit it off right away and danced the rest of the night. In face, we were together from then on. I remember that after that night, I waited all day for his call. It was love right away for me. I felt something I had never felt before and knew that he was the one for me. We dated for six months before Brad went to Texas to go to school. We talked a lot on the phone, and I...

Soccer, projects and....Blog Candy!!

Okay, I know I promised to post some blog candy a couple days ago but, what was I thinking? The weekend has become the crazy part of my week! We have entered the World of Soccer. All you soccer moms out there will totally know what I am talking about. We are still in the little leagues of it, only one practice a week and one game. Per child of course....I'm glad my son decided he didn't want to play. Two kids is enough! It was a beautiful weekend tho. The weather was awesome. The sun got bright during the afternoon game, but every few minutes it would rain so, it kept us nice an comfy. Only in Florida can you have rain on a sunny day. It is one of the wonders of the world. I put together a few goodies for Blog Candy today. I have been having way too much fun making stuff with coasters and patterned paper lately. Stampin' Up! has made it even easier to use these two items together by offering the Tombow Liquid Adhesive. If you haven't used it, you've got to! It is aw...
