Charlie Brown Christmas

Do you remember the old Charlie Brown Christmas specials on TV? They were an essential part of the whole Christmas season for me. Back in the day before we had 300+ movies on our shelves at home, we had to wait all year to see our favorites like Wizard of Oz, It's a Wonderful Life, and....the Peanut's specials. My favorite part (besides that cute pianist) was the pathetic tree Charlie Brown always ended up with! My friend Katie has a tree in her front yard that she hangs ornaments from each year and it totally looks like a huge Charlie Brown tree because it is not an evergreen and it totally naked except for the huge ball ornaments she hangs. I love that tree! So, in honor of C. Brown and Katie, I made this cute card for my classes last week. This first one has the canvase background stamped with celery in the background and the awesome new stripey ribbon from the Holiday mini (warning! There is only 8 yards of this....you need to buy two....or three!!) The ornament is actually a 3/4" circle punched from the holiday DSP and the string is drawn in with a brown marker. This next version is the same, but has no canvas in the background. The ladies at my classes had a lot of fun with these cards. Some added snowflakes, birds, more ornaments, different words.....and LOADS of glitter! Just so you know....You can NOT get too much glitter! They all looked great! I am loving this tree set!! You'll be seeing more of it....:o)

Perfect title for this card!

I must say I didn't have it on my wish list, but you've made it look very nice.

Fridays challenge #63

This week has been crazy. We had a fun Labor day and then actually went to school the rest of the week! The storms decided to stay away for a while. I'm glad. Our challenge this time was a color challenge. The colors are Ridinghood red, Tangerine and Pacific Point. All new In Colors at Stampin' Up! for the new catalog. I love all these colors but, together....they were a challenge! I decided to play up the red and blue and use the tangerine as a highlight. I pulled out my True Friend stamp set and stamped the large medallion style stamp all over the ridinghood red using my basic black stamp pad. It looked okay....but then I remembered the Banadana technique Pat shared in a recent Technique Junkie newsletter . You all know how much I LOVE my white gel pen, so...I went to work. I won't tell you how the bandana technique works, you'll have to visit Pat for that info. She puts out a fabulous newsletter every other month, FULL of great stampin ideas. I hear she has some gre...

Birthday blog candy!

In honor of my birthday, I am offering another package of blog candy! All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite thing about getting older. :o) The candy includes a package of cardstock, metal edge tags, sanding block, cool metal border stickers, silver gel pen, and a set of mini gift cards stamped by yours truly. For some reason, my 'rechargeable batteries' decided not to 'recharge' anymore. I am quite distraught about that. I planned to share these pictures a couple of days ago, but....I had to wait til I bought some new batteries. I have to say tho, I was really afraid I had broken my camera! I'm glad it is just the batteries! I borrowed my friend's Precious stamp set the other day and have been having fun with it! I made this card using a square card base of chocolate chip (5-12" square). I stamped the swirlies in blue bayou onto a large piece of whisper white and onto a smaller piece. I cut out a butterfly and stuck i...

Soccer, projects and....Blog Candy!!

Okay, I know I promised to post some blog candy a couple days ago but, what was I thinking? The weekend has become the crazy part of my week! We have entered the World of Soccer. All you soccer moms out there will totally know what I am talking about. We are still in the little leagues of it, only one practice a week and one game. Per child of course....I'm glad my son decided he didn't want to play. Two kids is enough! It was a beautiful weekend tho. The weather was awesome. The sun got bright during the afternoon game, but every few minutes it would rain so, it kept us nice an comfy. Only in Florida can you have rain on a sunny day. It is one of the wonders of the world. I put together a few goodies for Blog Candy today. I have been having way too much fun making stuff with coasters and patterned paper lately. Stampin' Up! has made it even easier to use these two items together by offering the Tombow Liquid Adhesive. If you haven't used it, you've got to! It is aw...
