Since today was a holiday, I decided to spend the day not doing my normal 'chores.' Don't be fooled into thinking I took it easy tho, I ended up shredding 50 pounds of junk mail and working in the yard. I don't know which activity made my hands more sore... I am truly pathetic when opening junk mail strains my muscles! My junk mail pile is a bit smaller and my yard looks a bit better so, I must have done okay. I also had some fun with Ben on the trampoline and a great family home evening. The kids were all in attendance (minus Maegan) and actually listened and behaved! Life is good!

I have to admit that I wasn't thrilled with this set when it arrived from Stampin' Up! I just didn't see the possibilities with it. I did like the words but the paisley...well....now that I have seen all the awesome samples made with the set I have decided I just need to play with it more. Here is one of my first attempts. I used my traditional purple and green (perfect plum and always artichoke)...those are my comfort colors, what can I say?! For the paisley in the background I went out on a limb and used close to cocoa. I think it looks good! I inked up the flowers with my "Marvelous Markers." I love my markers! I wanted the flower stems to go both ways so I used the markers to only ink up the flower and little circle. Then I used the artichoke marker to ink up just the stem part so I could turn it both ways. I "stamped off" before stamping the flowers behind the words to soften the colors. All in all, I have to say I am pretty happy with the card. Honestly tho...with the purple and green...how bad could it be?

I wasn't thrilled with this set at first either, but am now having a good time with it. Kendra Giles does amazing things with it! Have you seen that she is offering awesome blog candy today?

Bradley

Sunday, my best friend died. My sweetheart of 20 years died suddenly from diabetes. We didn't know he had diabetes. It came quick and took him from me. Brad was more than just my husband, he was my best friend. I relied so very much on his strength to guide me and my children through this life. I admit I feel a bit lost without him, already. I had planned on much, much more time with him. Brad and I met on January 28th, 1989. We were both at a nightclub for under age night with our friends that had dragged us there. We were both ready to leave when we were talked into one more dance. That dance changed our lives. We hit it off right away and danced the rest of the night. In face, we were together from then on. I remember that after that night, I waited all day for his call. It was love right away for me. I felt something I had never felt before and knew that he was the one for me. We dated for six months before Brad went to Texas to go to school. We talked a lot on the phone, and I...

Soccer, projects and....Blog Candy!!

Okay, I know I promised to post some blog candy a couple days ago but, what was I thinking? The weekend has become the crazy part of my week! We have entered the World of Soccer. All you soccer moms out there will totally know what I am talking about. We are still in the little leagues of it, only one practice a week and one game. Per child of course....I'm glad my son decided he didn't want to play. Two kids is enough! It was a beautiful weekend tho. The weather was awesome. The sun got bright during the afternoon game, but every few minutes it would rain so, it kept us nice an comfy. Only in Florida can you have rain on a sunny day. It is one of the wonders of the world. I put together a few goodies for Blog Candy today. I have been having way too much fun making stuff with coasters and patterned paper lately. Stampin' Up! has made it even easier to use these two items together by offering the Tombow Liquid Adhesive. If you haven't used it, you've got to! It is aw...

Doubles with candy!!

Today is another fun summer day at my house. The kids are running here and there and I'm just trying to keep up. I realized I hadn't sent out Father's day cards yet, so that is what I worked on today. I tried to keep these nice and clean and manly. I remember going to a demonstration at a Stampin' Up! convention years ago where Kevin Theeson and another guy(I forget his name....) talked about 'manly' cards. One of the things they stressed was that guys don't like cards made with pastel cards. They prefer bold bright and earth element colors. I'm not sure if they suggested we stay away from florals too, but I kind of figured that was a safe idea. ;o) For this card I started with some textured Wild Wasabi cardstock cut to 10-1/2 x 5-1/4. That gave me a 5-1/4" card when folded. The striped paper across the center is from a retired SU simply scrappin kit...primary colors I think it was called. I added a strip of Real Red to each side of the stripes for...
